    01 | What Are Medium-Chain Triglycerides?

Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), also known as medium-chain fatty acid triglycerides, consist of one glycerol molecule and three medium-chain fatty acid molecules. Put simply, they are triglycerides formed from saturated medium-chain fatty acids with carbon-chain lengths of C6-C12 [1].

02 | Sources and Basic Characteristics of MCTs

MCTs occur at relatively low levels in nature. Their main sources include palm oil, coconut oil, milk and dairy products. Caprylic acid (C8H16O2) and capric acid (C10H20O2) are the principal medium-chain fatty acids, and MCTs are more readily digested than many other types of fat. Approximately 3 g of MCTs are found in 100 g of butter and about 2 g in 100 g of fresh cream. Coconut oil contains approximately 14%, palm oil approximately 7%, and cow's milk and breast milk approximately 1%-3%.

MCT oil is a liquid composed entirely of medium-chain triglycerides and is usually separated from coconut oil and palm oil. Typical MCT oil is odorless, tasteless, colorless or slightly brown.

03 | Different Absorption and Metabolic Pathways of MCTs and LCTs

MCTs may reduce body-fat accumulation and help maintain a healthy body weight. In many European and North American countries, they have been used in dietary programs for people with obesity, with favorable results. Numerous experiments suggest that MCTs play a significant role in weight management.

04 | What Is MCT Oil Powder?

MCT Oil (Coconut) Powder is a white to almost-white or yellow free-flowing powder containing MCT oil that is homogenized and encapsulated with different carriers. The product is neutral in taste and odor and is dispersible in cold water.
